Education and Training
Henderson County EMS is committed to the continuing education and training of all of our employees. While all EMS professionals are required to maintain continuing educations requirements, not all EMS institutions provide this training for their employees.
HCEMS is proud to offer its employees in-house paid continuing education. As part of our efforts to remain at the forefront of emergency services, all HCEMS personnel complete at least 36 hours of continuing education annually.
The majority of this training take place at the Dr. Crit Harley EMS Training Center at the Henderson County Emergency Services Center. Other training events take place at locations in our community, such as Blue Ridge Community College.
In addition to training our employees, Henderson County EMS is partnered with Asheville-Buncombe Technical College, Blue Ridge Community College, and Western Carolina University to provide field internship opportunities for students enrolled in EMS education programs. Students are provided hands-on training in the field under the guidance of our skilled paramedics and AEMTs. This clinical experience allows students to assist in providing real-world emergency medical care, gain valuable skills and experience for their future careers in prehospital medicine, and meet training requirements set forth by the state of North Carolina.
