Essential Departmental Functions

The Solid Waste Division provides the County with a Transfer Station for waste disposal, tire disposal, construction debris, and wood waste.

The Convenience Center provides recycling of household materials (paper, plastic, aluminum, glass), certain electronics, mercury products, and white goods (used appliances and metals). The Department is responsible for waste reduction, recycling, and disposing of solid waste in order to protect the public's health, safety and welfare.

*IMPORTANT: The Henderson County Solid Waste facilities operate under a permit issued by NC DEQ. The Transfer Station operates under a regional permit and can take garbage from all surrounding counties. The Convenience Center does not operate under a regional permit and is ONLY for residents of Henderson County and does not allow businesses or commercial use of this facility.

Convenience Center: 7:00 - 4:00 / Monday - Saturday

Office: 7:30 - 4:30 / Monday - Friday

No commercial or business vehicles. The Convenience Center is for residential use only, not for commercial or business use.
