Solid Waste Transfer Station
Solid Waste Facilities open at 7:00 am and closes at 4:00 pm, Monday-Saturday
Excluding holidays and inclement weather.
The Transfer Station and Convenience Center
will be closed Friday April 18th & Saturday April 19th in Observance of Good Friday.
Henderson County Solid Waste operates a regional Transfer Station under a permit issued by NC DEQ 45-04T.
Transporting waste in Henderson County
All solid waste and recyclables being transported must be secured with a strap or cover before entering either facility.This includes adequate coverage for bagged, loose or any trash as well as recycling transported in the county. Henderson County Solid Waste Division retains the right to turn away users without covered or strapped loads.
Bulky waste consisting of large items such as large appliances, furniture, large auto parts, trees and other oversized waste must be secured on vehicle.

Tires
Henderson County residents are eligible to drop-off five free tires a year with proof of residency.
C&D Debris
All construction and demolition material must be weighed. All permitted solid waste companies with charge accounts and contractor's vehicles must be weighed.
Banned Items
Per state solid waste rules, specific materials are banned from entering landfills across North Carolina. The full list of those items can be viewed here. While this applies to the Henderson County Transfer Station, please note that the Solid Waste Division offers accommodations to process many of these items in alternative ways, such as through services provided at the neighboring Henderson County Convenience Center for residents.
Dried paint
Dried/solid paint is accepted at the Transfer Station. Secure lid, close tightly, and dispose of with regular garbage in a tied garbage bag. Liquid paint is not accepted. Please recycle liquid paint at a special collection event.
TVs and Monitors
Not accepted at the Convenience Center. These items must be taken across the scales at the Transfer Station and incur a $20 per item fee as of July 1st, 2021. All other residential electronics can still be taken to the Convenience Center for no charge.
Asbestos
Asbestos is not permitted at Henderson County Solid Waste. We have listed a few options for you to dispose of this material. For more please contact them.

White Oak landfill will accept asbestos shingles at $55.00 per ton. They will need 2 weeks notice for loads of shingles, all bags must be double bagged and taped at all seams. All truck loads must be double lined and wet down.

Enoree SC – Union County
You must contact a special waste executive at 803-371-9289.
They will need a copy of the State Agency letter from the abatement of the shingles. South Carolina DES will issue a letter with what the material is and quantity of material. You will need to get in touch with a special waste coordinator so they can setup a profile for the material. You will need to give the landfill 24-hour notice prior to sending the material.

Special Events:
Henderson County Solid Waste holds special collection events for residents six times a year at the Transfer Station and Convenience Center. Only on specific dates, liquid paint is collected at the Transfer Station and household chemicals, cleaners, pesticides, and fertilizers are collected at the Convenience Center.
