Career Ladder
Henderson County EMS provides opportunities for paramedics to grow and advance in their EMS careers. The opportunities for career advancement within HCEMS include:
- Paramedic I: A paramedic who is undergoing our training process and is not yet released to practice independently
- Paramedic II: An independently practicing paramedic who has successfully completed our training program
- Paramedic III: An independently practicing paramedic who had undergone additional training and maintains additional certifications including critical care training
- Field Training Specialist (FTS): Primarily responsible for field training of new employees
- Field Training Officer/Assistant Supervisor (FTO): Involved in training and continuing education, takes part in quality management, and fills in as a shift supervisor as needed

Supervisor: Oversees daily EMS operations and manages personnel assigned to his or her shift

Training Officer: Manages education programs for the Henderson County EMS system, quality management activities, and clinical initiatives

Logistics Officer: Provides logistical support for both Henderson County EMS and Emergency Management

EMS Manager: Directs the activities of Henderson County EMS and its employees
