Processing Assistant IV - Patient Accounts Representative
Description
Henderson County Department of Public Health is accepting applications for one full-time Patient Accounts Representative position. The primary role of the Patient Accounts Representative is to function as one of four patient accounts receivable and billing clerks. This position completes data entry for State reporting requirements and is responsible for Medicaid, Medicare, Insurance billing, and self-pay patient billing for the clinical and immunization services provided by the organization. This role is also responsible for reconciliation of all monies received along with correcting denials of third-party payers that must be re-billed through the requirements of the vendors.
Schedule
Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Occasionally the schedule may be altered by Health Director for Public Health emergencies, community needs, travel, training, peak work demand periods or other unique circumstances as needed.
Qualifications
Significant knowledge of office or work unit procedures, methods and practices. Significant knowledge of and ability to use correct grammar, vocabulary, spelling and office terminology to compose and/or proofread correspondence, reports and other materials. Significant knowledge of accounting procedures, mathematics and their application in the work environment. Ability to learn and independently apply laws and departmental rules and regulations covering programs and services. Ability to review and process information to determine conclusions, actions or compliance with applicable laws, rule or regulations. Ability to apply a variety of work-related formulas or mathematical calculations. Ability to record, compile, summarize and perform basic analysis of data. Ability to independently work with people with courtesy and tact in performing public contact duties that may be sensitive in nature.
Required Minimum Training and Experience
Graduation from high school and demonstrated possession of knowledges, skills, and abilities gained through at least two years of office assistant/secretarial experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
Preferred Skills and Experience
Medical billing and coding experience preferred. Bilingual skills are helpful but not required.

Anticipated Hiring Range: $16.87 - $22.00 hourly
