Children and Youth With Special Healthcare Needs

Innovative Approaches

Innovative Approaches

Helping systems work for children and youth with special health care needs.

  • The Innovative Approaches Initiative (IA) is working to improve the lives of children and youth with special health care needs (CYSHCN) from birth to 21.
  • IA leads local efforts among community members who help identify and make changes to service delivery systems that need improvement.
  • Strategies improve service delivery systems that positively impact the lives of CYSHCN.
  • Families of CYSHCN partner in decision-making at all levels.
  • A parent advisory council/support group, which is composed of parents and guardians of CYSHCN, collaborates with stakeholders and makes recommendations that can improve the lives of families.
