Patient Registration Clerk-Bilingual (Processing Assistant IV)
Description
Henderson County Department of Public Health is accepting applications for one full-time, bilingual Patient Registration Clerk position. This position requires Spanish and English fluency, with strong written and verbal skills. The Patient Registration Clerk provides patient registration services and staff coverage for all front desk roles including registration, reception, appointment desk, medical records and scanning documents. Registration duties include, but are not limited to, providing detailed and accurate data entry by obtaining demographic, financial, insurance, and family information from patients; collecting signed consents for treatment and procedures, insurance, and financial statements; working with a variety of databases including, but not limited to CureMD, NCTracks, and NCIR. This role requires a positive attitude, teamwork, attention to detail and excellent communication skills. This position works directly with the public and clinic staff and is supervised by the Front Desk Supervisor.
Schedule
Typical work schedule is 37.5 hours per week: Monday through Friday, between 8:00am and 4:30pm, with one hour for lunch. Alternate or additional hours (including weekends and holidays) may be required to meet department, public health response, or client needs. This position will rotate late check-out duties as needed.
Qualifications
Significant knowledge of office procedures, methods, and practices. Significant knowledge of and ability to use correct grammar, vocabulary, spelling and office terminology. Ability to learn and independently apply laws and departmental rules and regulations covering programs and services. Significant data entry skills and familiarity with ability to use a variety of office equipment. Ability to work with people with courtesy and tact in performing public contact duties that may be sensitive in nature. Ability to work individually and in a group setting. Spanish and English fluency, with strong written and verbal skills.

Required Minimum Training and Experience
Graduation from high school and demonstrated possession of knowledge, skills and abilities gained through at least two years of office assistant/secretarial experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Preferred Experience: Familiarity with medical terminology; general medical office experience.
