Description

The Henderson County Department of Public Health is accepting applications for one full time Processing Assistant IV – Medical Records Clerk position. The primary purpose of this position is the management of the central filing system, scanning of medical records and to provide back-up coverage as needed. This position involves operational support for the clinic and Referral Coordinator with tasks including, but not limited to, chart filing, scanning documents, processing records requests and communicating with patients. This position is supervised by the Front Desk Supervisor.

 

Schedule

Typical work schedule is 37.5 hours per week: Monday through Friday, between 8:00am and 4:30pm, with one hour for lunch. Alternate or additional hours (including weekends and holidays) may be required to meet department, public health response, or client needs.

 

Qualifications

Significant knowledge of office or work unit procedures, methods and practices. Significant knowledge of and ability to use correct grammar, vocabulary, spelling and office terminology to compose and/or proofread correspondence, reports and other materials. Ability to learn and independently apply laws and departmental rules and regulations covering programs and services. Ability to review and process information to determine conclusions, actions or compliance with applicable laws, rules or regulations. Ability to record, compile, summarize and perform basic analysis of data. Ability to independently work with people with courtesy and tact in performing public contact duties that may be sensitive in nature.

 

Required Minimum Training and Experience

Graduation from high school and demonstrated possession of knowledges, skills and abilities gained through at least two years of office assistant/secretarial experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

 

Preferred Skills and Experience

Familiarity with medical terminology, general medical office experience, and/or experience working in a government/human services organization.

Anticipated Hiring Range: $16.87 - $22.00 hourly

Grade:              64A

Hiring salary will be determined based on qualifications and internal equity.
