Human Resources Administrative Assistant - Department of Public Health
Description
Henderson County Department of Public Health is accepting applications for one full-time Human Resources Administrative Assistant position. The primary role of the HR Administrative Assistant is to assist the Administrative Officer with the execution and coordination of daily administrative processes linked to human resources, facility oversight and safety standards consistent with federal, state and local policy. This position serves as the liaison between the Department of Public Health and Henderson County Human Resources Department, and assists in interviewing, selecting, onboarding and orienting new employees. This position also oversees personnel management including maintaining personnel files, FMLA and general leave requests, position reclassifications, creation and maintenance of job descriptions and other duties as assigned.
Schedule
Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Occasionally the employee in this position will be required to work weekend and/or evenings during a public health emergency or to meet the goals of the agency.
Qualifications
General knowledge of office management techniques; Skill in organizing workflow and coordinating activities. Ability to interpret and apply standard personnel policies, procedures, and regulations to a variety of personnel transactions; to gather, compile, and evaluate position and employee information; to exercise judgment in evaluating situations and making recommendations concerning employees and positions, transactions, and problems; to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, administrative officials, and the general public; to express oneself clearly and concisely in oral and written form; to work independently and to make recommendations.
Required Minimum Education and Experience
Completion of high school or equivalent and four years of progressively responsible secretarial or clerical/administrative/office management experience; or completion of a two-year secretarial science or business administration program and two years of progressively responsible secretarial or clerical/administrative, office management experience; or completion of a four-year program in a college or university preferably with major emphasis on coursework in business administration, public administration, or other related field, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
