Dental Hygienist II

Description:

 The Henderson County Department of Public Health is accepting applications for one full-time, Dental Hygienist II position. The primary purpose of this position is to coordinate the agency’s dental program, which includes community screening, education, and referrals. This position is community-based and works with dentists, schools, community organizations, parents, and children. In addition to dental screening, the position makes referrals, coordinates dental treatment services, and provides education and training on multiple topics.

Schedule:

The typical schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:00am – 4:30pm, with one hour for lunch. Work schedule may include non-traditional lunch hours, evening, holiday, or weekend work hours.  Additional hours may be required as deemed necessary for public health emergencies, preparedness activities, special events or programs, out of county training/travel, or other duties as assigned by the supervisor or Health Director.

Knowledge, skills, and abilities:

Considerable knowledge of the principles and practices of dental hygiene; general knowledge of educational theory and techniques in the field of dental health; general knowledge of display techniques and skill in the arrangement and operation of visual aids; knowledge of the methods and techniques in developing and disseminating dental health educational information to the public. Ability to work effectively with people on all educational levels; ability to maintain effective working relationships with local school boards, civic groups, local dental society, and other community agencies and the public; ability to speak effectively and stimulate interest and cooperation among various groups in carrying out a program in dental health education.

Required Minimum Training:

Bachelor's degree in dental hygiene from an appropriately accredited institution; or an associate’s degree in dental hygiene from an appropriately accredited institution and two years of experience in dental hygiene or health education; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Salary Grade: 75A          Anticipated Hiring Range: $25.99 - $ 31.00 per hour            Benefit Eligible
