Disabled Veteran's Exclusion
Excludes from property taxes the first $45,000 of assessed value for permanent residence occupied by a qualifying owner. Application deadline is June 1. Complete Form AV-9 and Form NCDVA-9
Requirements:Requirements are listed below for property owners that are veterans or surviving spouses. In both situations, the property owner must meet the requirements as of Jan. 1 of the year the application is filed. Documentation of the service-connected permanent and total disability from the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. |

Program continuation
If you are currently receiving this exclusion, you do not need to apply again, unless you have changed your permanent residence, or receive a Compliance Review form. In the event the person receiving the exclusion has died, or no longer occupies the home, the person required by law to list the property must notify the assessor. Failure to make any of the notices required by this paragraph before June 1 may result in penalties and interest.
