Program Offerings
The Henderson County Soil & Water Conservation District (SWCD) provides FREE educational lessons to assist classroom teachers in providing dynamic education for students!
We come to you on your classroom schedule. This means no need for fundraising, bus scheduling, or field trip permission forms. Lessons are typically 45–90 minutes long, but can be tailored for your needs. We can fit our program into your existing Science time in class. No need to even change your schedule for the day!
Lessons are created to help you meet the NC Essential Standards. For the 2023-2024 school year we are focusing on the theme “The Living Soil." Our contest can help you meet a variety of NC Essential Standards for grades 3 through 12. Please contact us for the specific standards for your grade level.
Have a different topic you need covered? We also teach on General Soil or Water Conservation, Wetland Ecosystems, Weathering & Erosion and the Rock Cycle, Enviroscape Model Demonstrations, Introduction to Conservation, Soils, and the Water Cycle. Our programs can cover all grade levels including mixed grades, special populations, and civic/scout groups. Just let us know your needs and we can see how we can assist you!
We look forward to hearing from you soon!
