Transit Feasibility Study 2024
In 2023, Henderson County hired a consultant, AECOM, to study the Apple Country Public Transit system. The study intends to identify opportunities to increase the ridership of ACPT’s transit while optimizing the level of service for current and potential riders, as well as allow safe and equitable access to employment, education, healthcare, and other regular destinations. Findings and recommendations from the study will support Henderson County's vision of providing safe and equitable service to all members of the community.
The study was adopted by the Board of Commissioners on December 2, 2024. Henderson County in coordination with its contractor, WNCSource, will work toward implementing the various recommendations of the plan over the next decade. As phases of the implementation are completed, a check-in will be conducted to assess the system. Staff will be able to tailor the study's phasing to ensure the ACPT system is responding well to the various changes.
