Storm Debris Cleanup
Right of Way (ROW) Debris Pickup
Henderson County will provide free curbside storm debris removal to all county residents. The county is working with a contractor to pick up all storm debris on DOT, municipal and private roads. The county is partnering with the municipalities within the county for this pickup service as well.
Storm debris that is pushed to the right of way of a property will be picked up. Please be patient. Debris will be up picked by us as soon as possible. Residents will need to place all items along the road right of way in order for pickup.
Storm debris includes tree branches, leaves, logs, building materials, furniture, paint, etc. Please separate household garbage, construction debris, vegetative debris, large appliances, electronics and hazardous waste to expedite the removal process. There is no need to take storm debris to the Transfer Station. The best way to remove debris is to place it on your curb.
This graphic shows how to properly separate trash to expedite the debris removal process.
Report Storm Debris for Pickup
Have storm debris from Hurricane Helene ready for free curbside pickup? You can now report it through this online form. This online form allows residents to describe the type of storm debris and submit photos, which will help plan cleanup efforts.
**Data collected will be shared with debris pickup contractors as they continue to evaluate debris pickup needs. This survey does not constitute a guaranteed timeline of debris pickup.
Gated Communities
Whether their gates are open or closed, gated communities need to send an email to helene-info@hcem.org requesting the County's FEMA Debris Contractor enter the subdivision to remove the debris. This request needs to reflect the consensus of the entire community.
Private Property Debris Removal Program
Starting December 12, Henderson County property owners (unincorporated areas and cities) who cannot take their debris to the right of way for pickup and who do not have debris removal insurance or have inadequate debris removal insurance, may apply to have qualified disaster debris removed from their property for FREE through the Private Property Debris Removal (PPDR) Program. The program also covers the demolition of eligible unsafe structures.
