Temporary Emergency Management Specialist

(This position is classified as Project to assist with hurricane relief efforts. The length of this assignment will be 3 -6 months.)

 

Duties and Responsibilities: This position is responsible for performing technical and administrative support for the Emergency Management Division.  This position is also responsible for augments EM staff during extended operations including disasters, unusual events and preplanned events; Exercises independent judgment in applying established standards to a variety of work situations; Exercises considerable tact and firmness in dealing with other agencies, departments, and the general public; Works with the Warehouse Coordinator, EM Rescue Manager, or Logistics Officer to assists in management of Emergency Management disaster cache, supplies and deployable assets; Provides operational support of the Henderson County Incident Management Team; Monitoring supply levels, anticipating needs, restocking supplies and locating supply vendors; Setting up and tearing down equipment as well as moving supplies and equipment between locations; Developing a work schedule for various roles from a pool of available staff or volunteers with varying skill levels. Reports to the Warehouse Coordinator or Emergency Management Rescue Manager.

Qualifications: A thorough working knowledge of warehouse management; working knowledge of computers and other IT components; knowledge of equipment and supplies; ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing; good interpersonal skills and ability to exercise tact to interact with other agencies and members of the public; ability to attend work regularly.

Requirements: Graduation from high school or GED or an equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the necessary skills, knowledge and abilities.
