Duties and Responsibilities:  In this position, reporting to the HCTDA Executive Director (ED), the Deputy Director will have both internal and external facing leadership responsibilities, ranging from project management (partner programs, welcome center) to administration (IT, financial and government reporting and tracking, and facilities) and human capital (HR/recruiting, mentoring, career progression). The Deputy Director will partner closely with the ED to chart the HCTDA towards future growth and strategic response to an ever-increasing demand for the organization’s services. This position supervises administrative staff and partner and visitor facing and staff; maximizes the efficiency of the organization and optimizes administrative workflow processes, including (such as): data management, financial reporting, tactical planning/calendars, board and committee reporting, and HR administration; serves as an “air traffic controller” for HCTDA projects by ensuring that major projects are assigned, managed, and executed by staff according to their schedule; acts as an integrator connecting work streams that might otherwise remain siloed and as a communicator linking leadership and the broader organization; provides information to the Executive Director that enables her or him to make better decisions; participates in planning and implementation of programs and projects aimed at promoting tourism in Henderson County; helps engage with local tourism partners on tactical matters, including maintaining effective working relationships with partners to leverage opportunities including co-op advertising and marketing, the HCTDA website, visiting media; oversees the execution of major tourism partner events and programs; represents the HCTDA at gatherings of local tourism partners; works with the county finance department to ensure that financial reports are created and provided on a timely basis and stored for rapid retrieval; assists the ED in preparation of the annual budget; oversees and/or prepares necessary reports and materials for monthly HCTDA board meetings and HCTDA committee meetings; enables the ED to stay focused upon the most important strategic issues affecting the organization and the Henderson County visitor economy; assists the ED in annual and long-range planning efforts for the HCTDA; in absence of ED, acts as designated financial and HR representative; oversees compliance with all OSHA and DOL employment, safety, and training requirements.

Qualifications:  Must have a minimum of a four-year college or university degree in tourism or related field or at least ten years combined experience in either lodging hospitality management or at a DMO, preferably with experience in both. At least five years of supervising a minimum of three employees. Considerable financial, reporting and administrative experience required. Conversant in all Microsoft Office applications; expert in Excel. Experience in managing OSHA and DOL employment requirements.

Salary Range:  $85,000.00 - $95,000.00

Pay Grade: 78A
