STATE OF NORTH CAROLINA BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS

COUNTY OF HENDERSON NOVEMBER 13, 2002

The Henderson County Board of Commissioners met for a special called meeting at 9:30 a.m. in the Commissioners= Conference Room of the Henderson County Office Building at 100 North King Street, Hendersonville, North Carolina.

Those present were: Chairman Bill Moyer, Vice-Chair Marilyn Gordon, Commissioner Grady Hawkins, Commissioner Don Ward, Commissioner Charlie Messer, County Manager David Nicholson and Deputy Clerk to the Board Amy Brantley.

Absent was: County Attorney Angela S. Beeker.

Attached as a part of these minutes is the list of 20 students who attended from the four high schools, members of the Leadership Development of Henderson County - Class of 2002/2003.

CALL TO ORDER/WELCOME

Chairman Moyer called the meeting to order and welcomed those in attendance. He explained that the purpose of this meeting was to meet with local High School students and answer questions from them and explain about local government.

Commissioner Moyer discussed the structure and operation of County Government. Commissioners Moyer, Hawkins, Messer, Gordon and Ward discussed the various volunteer committees within the County, and the Commissioners roles on these committees. The Commissioners responded to several questions from the students.

ADJOURN

At approximately 10:30 a.m., Chairman Moyer thanked the students for coming and adjourned the meeting.
