STATE OF NORTH CAROLINA BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS

COUNTY OF HENDERSON MAY 16, 2000

The Henderson County Board of Commissioners met for a special called meeting at 2:00 p.m. in the Commissioners= Conference Room of the Henderson County Office Building at 100 North King Street, Hendersonville, North Carolina.

Those present were: Chairman Grady Hawkins, Vice-Chair Bill Moyer, Commissioner Renee Kumor, Commissioner Don Ward, Commissioner Marilyn Gordon, and County Manager David E. Nicholson.

Also present were: Finance Director J. Carey McLelland and Budget Analyst Selena Coffey.

Absent was: Clerk to the Board Elizabeth W. Corn. Mr. Nicholson prepared notes in Mrs. Corn=s absence.

CALL TO ORDER/WELCOME

Chairman Hawkins reconvened the special called meeting of May 15, 2000 and called the meeting to order. This meeting had been originally scheduled as a workshop on Safety Net Zoning; however, at the previous meeting the Board agreed to convene the safety net zoning meeting and continue the budget meeting of May 15 to May 16 at 2:00 p.m. as well. At the beginning of the meeting all five Commissioners agreed to the change of the agenda.

FY 2000 - 2001 BUDGET

The Board reviewed the following departments:

Public Library

Recreation

Debt Service

The Board then discussed the budget meetings scheduled for Monday and Tuesday of next week. Monday, May 22 is a workshop scheduled with the Board of Public Education and Blue Ridge Community College. The Commissioners requested an updated list of changes and outstanding issues. They also plan to discuss contributions to the non-profit organizations at Monday=s meeting.

On Tuesday, May 23, they will meet with the Fire Departments to discuss those budgets.

The meeting was adjourned at 3:45 p.m.
