STATE OF NORTH CAROLINA BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS

COUNTY OF HENDERSON MAY 12, 2000

The Henderson County Board of Commissioners met for a special called meeting at 2:00 p.m. in the Commissioners= Conference Room of the Henderson County Office Building at 100 North King Street, Hendersonville, North Carolina.

Those present were: Chairman Grady Hawkins, Commissioner Renee Kumor, Commissioner Don Ward, Commissioner Marilyn Gordon, and County Manager David E. Nicholson.

Also present were: Finance Director J. Carey McLelland and Budget Analyst Selena Coffey.

Absent were: Vice-Chair Bill Moyer and Clerk to the Board Elizabeth W. Corn. Mr. Nicholson prepared notes in Mrs. Corn=s absence.

CALL TO ORDER/WELCOME

Chairman Hawkins called the meeting to order at 2:00 p.m.

FY 2000 - 2001 BUDGET

Jail

The Board first discussed the need to establish a number of inmates that the new detention center will house when it first opens. The Chairman had spoken to the Sheriff concerning this issue. The Sheriff and his staff will provide a recommendation to the Board of Commissioners.

Review of County Departments

The Board then reviewed the following departments:

Emergency Management

Fire Marshal

Inspections

Emergency Medical Services

Planning Department

Land Records Management

Economic Development

The meeting was adjourned at 3:30 p.m.
