STATE OF NORTH CAROLINA                                           BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS

COUNTY OF HENDERSON                                                                                    MAY 3, 2000

 

The Henderson County Board of Commissioners met for a special called meeting at 2:00 p.m. in the Commissioners= Conference Room of the Henderson County Office Building at 100 North King Street, Hendersonville, North Carolina.

 

Those present were:  Chairman Grady Hawkins, Vice-Chair Bill Moyer, Commissioner Renee Kumor, Commissioner Don Ward, Commissioner Marilyn Gordon, and County Manager David E. Nicholson.

 

Also present were: Finance Director J. Carey McLelland, Budget Analyst Selena Coffey and members of the media.

 

Absent was: Clerk to the Board Elizabeth W. Corn.  David Nicholson took notes for Mrs. Corn.

 

CALL TO ORDER/WELCOME

Chairman Hawkins called the meeting to order and welcomed those in attendance. He announced that there would be a joint meeting with the Hendersonville City Council on Monday, May 8, 2000 at 4:00 p.m.  He then asked the County Manager to begin the budget review process.

 

FY 2000-2001 BUDGET REVIEW

David Nicholson reviewed the budget materials including the Detailed Line Item Book and the Budget Message/Summary notebook.  The Commissioners asked questions about major changes in the General Fund Revenues.  These included growth in the Ad Valorem Property Tax, Sales and Services and fees.  The Board requested additional information on the property tax and septic tank fees.

 

The Board then reviewed the following departments:

 

Governing Body

Dues & Non-Profit Contributions

County Manager

Assistant County Manager

Human Resources

 

The meeting was adjourned at approx. 3:45 p.m.
